Portrait of a young artist, age 4

Ever since I was pocket-sized, I have used paintbrushes and pens to explore people from all walks of life.

As an artist, I am perpetually drawn to portraiture. In my writing, I try to inhabit my characters. If a story doesn't feel authentic or personal, my interest fades.

(Truth be told, I wanted to be a mermaid when I grew up, and I suppose I got my wish because adulthood is basically just treading water.)
